The parts list is organized by quantity and part type. Verify that all parts are present by checking in the box provided as you locate the part in the list. You may wish to take this opportunity to sort the parts into a compartmented container such as an egg carton or muffin tin as you inventory them. This will aid in building the kit.

The board was designed for a Xicon inductor with radial leads. The critical dimension is the height. If it's too high, you won't be able to slide the assembled sensor into the PVC housing. A Mouser Electronics part number is given for convenience. If you have another preferred vendor, go for it.

The capacitor is not critical. Again, the only consideration is size.

If you decide to try the filter, understand that the sensitivity of the sensor is diminished somewhat. This is in large part due to the attenuation characteristics of the LP filter. It will reduce the range, which may be a desireable thing.


The following parts are required, but not supplied with the kit:

? RG-58/RG-59 Long enough to connect the sensor to the X1W-1 or X1W-2. RG-58 is small, flexible and readily available. However, any type of shielded cable will work.
12" 16-18 gauge stranded wire Connects from the ground terminal on the sensor board to the metal mounting mast.
10' (min) Metal mast to mount sensor on 3/4" or 1" EMT electrical conduit works well.
1 RCA male phono plug Used on the end of the shielded cable to plug into the X1W-1 or X1W-2 interface board.
2 Stainless steel hose clamps Used to secure the sensor to the metal mast. No size is given as it will vary according to the size of mast used to mount the sensor on.
1 coax seal, roll Used to seal the cable and wire exiting from the bottom of the sensor assembly.
1 PVC glue for SCH40 Used in final assembly of sensor housing.
1 Fireplace/grill igniter This is the type with the long snout and a trigger to fire the igniter. Used to test the completed sensor. When fired next to the sensor it will simulate a lightning strike that can be read using the 1-Wire counter utility.
