      Rich Garcia K4GPS, one of the list owners (who no longer lives in FL) was
under the impression that the aprs-fl list was defunct.  With any luck, former
subscribers will see my post and respond to it.  I'd like to get people to get
active on it again ... and I'm posting a local BLN pointing to it.

      I generally run UI-View running a KPC-3+ 8.2, an HTX-202 and a 30 W brick
into a J-pole about 30' up, but sometimes prefer APRSDos.   Do you know of any
good DOS maps for West Central Florida or, better yet,  do you know of anybody
that had the USGS 1:100,000 DLG dataset CD?  I have some experience making DOS
maps, and would like to make them available to local users.   These files used
to be available via FTP, but I've been trying to access them for an hour and I
can't seem to get them.  Apparently, they're on tape (!), and I have a feeling
they may no longer be available.  Of course, that data is decades out of date,
but old data is slightly better than none at all.

      At any rate, I hope people see these messages on the list and realize its
still there.  Maybe we can drum up interest and edumicate folks about APRS. 73
