Jason - I would recommend that you join the APRSSIG hosted by tapr.org. They 
should definitely be able to help you.

Personally I run a Kenwood TM-D700 in my truck and I like it a lot. For 
transmit only I would recommend the TinkTrak III (www.byonics.com) or the 
OpenTracker (http://n1vg.net/opentracker/).
