I should have said HAAT instead of height, since that's what I meant. And yes, the APRS spec clearly states height is HAAT, not above ground level or above sea level. Some googling suggests that the tallest towers in the world (that is, distance to the top of the actual tower structure above the ground it is built on) are less than 2000ft tall. I guess my next step is to perform some HAAT calculations for my own education. -Jason kg4wsv
