Thanks for the help, I got Aprs running now on the D700.  I still 
need to make a gps cable.  I was planning to use my Garmin GPS 
12 but may also look for a hockey puck GPS unit I can set on my 
dash.  Any recommendations?

I am still having trouble with entering spaces in a message.  Am I 
blind and just don't see the space and scrolling right past it?

So far I love the D700, looks like it is very intuitive once you get the 
basics down.

Now the learning and fun begins....
