The National Semiconductor web site FAQ says the LM376 was obsoleted in 
2001. Digi-key lists it as obsoleted and not in stock. The NE550 was a 
pin compatible substitute, but it required a different voltage divider 
string.

I suggest some major surgery and replace it with a 3-pin fixed regulator
of the appropriate voltage.
