Forwarded from the CA APRS list.  Something in SGXFLW's flood warning
messages seems to be shutting down TM-D700As.  Is this a known bug?

Happened AGAIN to me tonight!  At least twice.
And to think I was wondering why my radio was
somehow "getting wet" inside a perfectly dry,
brand new vehicle.

Maybe Phil, AD6NH, can help?  I think he is (or
was-) somehow affiliated with the San Diego
NWS (KSGX) office.

Hello all.
I have 3 Kenwood TM-D700a's.
One in my wifes truck, one on my motorcycle, and one at home.
ALL  of them (along with everyone else in the Southern California area)
are getting messages from SGXFLW with "WARNINGS" of floods, or
other rain related problems in and or around Southern California.
When we receive the messages / bulletins, the TM-D700A will
  s l o w l y    turn off.

After receiving the "WARNING FROM SGXFLW", the LIGHTS in the
microphone will turn off.  Then about 10 seconds after that the AUDIO
from the radio is shut off.  Then a few seconds after that, the RADIO
shuts off !!  I am beginning to truly "not like" getting these messages.

Is is acting like a RADIO VIRUS !!  Why do we have to receive these
messages ?

If there is somebody out there that could find out WHAT or WHY this
garbage is getting to APRS.............    P L E A S E     speak up !!
This is NOT funny anymore.

I would like to use the radios I have and not have them all shut off
in the middle of a conversation with someone, or be able to see
where my wife is when she is on her way home using her TM-D700A,
or be able to contact one of my two licensed "hams" sons at home
WITHOUT the D700 radio they use there shut off without them knowing it !!

This SHUT OFF  is done very quietly, so there is nothing to tell the person
that was TRYING to listen to the radio or use APRS, that the radio has shut
off.

P.S.--- IF YOU RECEIVED THIS E-MAIL MORE THAN ONCE, SORRY, BUT I
AM TRYING TO GET THIS THING SOLVED OR AT LEAST GET IT TO AS MANY
PEOPLE AS COULD POSSIBLY HAVE THE PROBLEM AND NEED OR WANT A
SOLUTION.  MAYBE SOME HAVE NOT FIGURED OUT THAT IT IS THE MESSAGES
THAT ARE BEING SENT !!  ??  THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR TIME AND TROUBLE.
