SSID stands for Secondary Station ID (Identifier). For complete details, look at the AX25 protocol, which incidently can be found at the following website at TAPR : http://www.tapr.org/tapr/html/Fax25.html To quote : The SSID subfield allows an Amateur Radio operator to have more than one packet-radio station operating under the same call sign.
