Can the available digi software for home-based digis just insert their 
own flagged callsign into the path and leave WIDE2-2 alone?

e.g., mobile's path is
WIDE2-2

a home/fill-in digi would just

MYCALL*, WIDE2-2

and send it on.  The "main" digipeaters would treat WIDE2-2 as normal.
