But if I keep it that way then this is what happens with three digis that can hear me on the first hop. WIDE2-2,K4ROK-10,WIDE2-1 WIDE2-2,KB4TOH-10,WIDE2-1 WIDE2-2,KD4PBS-3,WIDE2-1 SO now I have created 3 paths and 3 packets from the same path and that is just the first hop. Does this help you understand what I am stating? Maybe I was not clear when I first posted it. If I run K4ROK-10,WIDE2-1 the it will only go out one more hop. SO I have now created less packets by doing this. I am suggesting this for home stations only -----Original Message----- From: aprssig-bounces at lists.tapr.org [mailto:aprssig-bounces at lists.tapr.org] On Behalf Of Wes Johnston Sent: Saturday, April 02, 2005 6:51 PM To: TAPR APRS Mailing List; Ke4tzn at cox.net Subject: Re: [aprssig] Question about the new STANDARD I think this question is not so much about the changes in the network being proposed, but more about day to day operation. If your home station's outbound path was W2-2, why not keep it that way? The changes only affect mobile stations since they are the only ones supposed to use RELAY (now WIDE1-1). If you want to get out one tier, use k4rok-10 as your path, or WIDE2-1. If you want to get out two tiers, use k4rok-10, WIDE2-1 as your path, or generically WIDE2-2. Home stations should never use WIDE1-1 in any portion of their path, no one should use WIDE1-1 after the first hop. Hope this is a help.
