[aprssig] NMEA VDM and VDO sentences

G'Day All

I want to send APRS data into a system that allows input of AIS (Automatic
Identification System) data from vessels. The software I believe uses the
!AIVDM and !AIVDO sentences. 

But I cannot find any documentation on the format of these messages. Can
anyone help?
