I can't remember which one is which, the 232 or the 233, but one needs 
about 4 or 5 capacitors, where the other just needs a few jumper wires.

If you're trying to keep the pin-count/chip footprint down, I think 
there are some others in the Maxim line that have a smaller footprint, 
but I don't recall how many external components they need.
