Eric,
Look also at the products offered by B&B electronics (www.bb-elec.com).
Some of theirs come with 'virtual serial port' drivers for windows, so
that it looks like a hardware serial port to the application, but the
physical port is remote. You'll only need one, not two. From Linux/unix,
they present as a telnet server. Handy gadgets in a lot of applications.
