I'm learning to retune rock-bound FM sets by playing with a Western Radio/ Unimetrics mobile from the 80s (WR-154). Still working on getting the input right for APRS (it doesn't have the sensitivity I expect). Once I have it running, I'll be happy to try to run it at 9k6 if someone can help me with a signal source - the TNCs I have only go up to 4800. The radios can be had dirt cheap (about $10) and a set of crystals is only about $40. 73 de chris KG6VYD
