From the previous 7 or 8 posts it appears that: 1) Several of the current symbols with various overlays are being used for these nodes. 2) There seems to be no consensus on which symbol should be used. 3) The official APRS party line is that the diamond character should be used. In the forthcoming symbol set release, I have designed the lower case "a" in the alternate set (the "ARRL" diamond) from the customary small red diamond with a black border which was difficult to overlay clearly. At WB4APR's request when he reviewed my symbol set, it is now a slightly larger light blue diamond without a border line against a fully filled white square which should be much more clearly overlaid. As a result, I don't think there is any need to create a new symbol after all, and I will proceed with the release of the new symbol sets within the next day or two. Stephen H.
