Sky Diamond 8 (alas, the comment field still says "SD7"!) is aloft... This is a small zero-pressure helium tetroon designed to track air mass movement at 500mb. The tetroon is equipped with a strobe (which may or may not function at altitude), so if it's in your area tonight, look up! If all goes well and the new film holds up, the flight should last through tomorrow evening. Ballasting was originally planned for this flight to stay up another night, but this was scratched at the last minute. The balloon is transmitting packets on 144.39 under KC8UCH-11. 73, Robert -- Robert Rochte Director of Technology The Grosse Pointe Academy 171 Lake Shore Road Grosse Pointe Farms, MI 48236 Tel. +1 313-886-1221 x155 FAX +1 313-886-1418 http://mail.gpacademy.org/~rochter
