I wish more Windows programmers would pay attention to this. A network service like an IGate has no business running in the GUI. It needs to be written as a service, capable of running without a user logged on. APRSD does this quite well under Linux. I think I've heard that Javaprsrv can be run as a service - but that might have been true only when used with the generic service wrapper from the resource kit. Does anyone know if it'll run as a native Windows service?
