Another method (in use today): Place an IGate on your alternate frequency. The IGate can be located at other than a digipeater site allowing single digipeater coverage area for your local operations if you want. Configure a second IGate on the shared APRS frequency (144.39 in the US) to gate everything heard by the alternate IGate to RF. javAPRSIGate has this capability. The IGates and digipeaters can all be at different locations or some/all of them may be collocated. No packets gated to the alternate frequency will show up on the shared frequency because the alternate frequency IGate won't gate them back to APRS-IS. Advantages: full APRS support (including messaging) on the alternate frequency, full visibility on the shared frequency for alternate frequency users, gated paths are limited to IGate paths, full CSMA support. 73, Pete Loveall AE5PL mailto:pete at ae5pl.net
