I'm a real fan of the X1J version of THENET.  It gives you a full
time KISS TNC *** AND *** a basic NODE/DIGI.   The source is
available and is a cousin to what's been done to create UIDIGI.
The "process" for compiling the source is, from what I hear,
a real challenge.

Having said that, "I saw digi_ned running on a NSLU2 last Saturday"...
Ohh ahhhhhhh..
