I mounted my D700 onto a piece of plexiglas not much larger than the 
D700.  I stuck a short tack through each corner and set that under the 
back seat of my F150.  It doesn't move unless you pick it up and get 
the tacks clear of the carpet.  Just make sure you don't perforate a 
cable or a body part with the tacks.
