PCsat has no CPU. It is only two KPC-9612 dual port TNC's, so the problem is the factorry defaults we put in before launch. We thought it was important to have spare Receivers come on in case it lost contact with the ground. Problem is, if that loss is due to low power shut down, then it comes back up with too much drain and cannot climb out of that discharge hole until we get good sun.... every few months. Bob >>> agcme2002 at yahoo.com 11/29/05 5:12 PM >>> Here's a silly question: are you not able to update the code on your system control computer such that the default state for the two problematic UHF transponders is off rather than on? I'm sure you already considered it but I thought I'd ask because I'm very curious. -Alex, KF4LVZ Date: Tue, 29 Nov 2005 12:38:37 -0500 From: "Robert Bruninga" <bruninga at usna.edu> Subject: [aprssig] Fwd: PCsat 50% through full Sun period To: <aprssig at lists.tapr.org> Message-ID: <s38c4bd3.086 at FSGWHUB.usna.edu> Content-Type: text/plain; charset=US-ASCII Today, 29 Nov, PCsat is 50% (6 days) through its 12 day full-sun period. In fact, today, PCsat's orbit flies almost perfectly over the day/night line so you you get about equal passes in the hour before and after sun rise and sunset. On http://pcsat.aprs.org, I notice about 45 users today, and about 72 different calls in the last 2 days. In 6 days, when PCsat returns to eclipses, we are usually lucky enough to keep her from resetting for a few more weeks and at least daylight operations can continue normally. But once it resets, either due to peak user load or an SEU, then we lose her again until the next full sun period in the first week of March 2006. PCSAT2 should come back to life on the 1st of Dec and so we should get some time for joint dual-hop experiments.
