For SATgate PHG circles: The PHG circles in APRS can be extended to show circles of over 1000 mile radius I think, though few client software's implemented it. We extended PHG to that range just so that Satellite PHG's could be displayed. These could also be displayed for SATgates, but projected upward they are dependent on the satellite's altitude. TO get that large of a PHG, just extend the alphabet above the "9" digit in the "H" byte of the PHG. For example, for Balloons, use "=" which is about 82,000 feet or "A" which is about 1,300,000 feet or about the height of the Space Station... But again, few other software than APRSdos probably implemented it...
