To use a D700 as a fill-in digi, simply bring up the
APRS menu, select UIDIGI and enter WIDE1-1,
then select the DIGI menu and set it to ON.

To use it for WIDEn-N or SSn-N you have to set
those parameters from a PC and "remember what
you set them to", since they will also be activated
when you set the DIGI ON in APRS mode (I think).

Maybe someone has actually done it and can
be certain.
