Odd, I looked at it a day or two ago and saw Google maps style roads, 
an option to pick Terraserver imagery, and other data that I can't seem 
to find today.  wonder if some deals fell through, load too much for 
the server, or maybe just pilot error on my part?

I wonder if the error you're seeing is due to TIGER data being used as 
the source for street level data.  While it's fairly accurate (for the 
most part) around here, I understand there are some places where it's 
wildly off.
