Message: 12 Date: Wed, 7 Sep 2005 14:58:23 -0400 From: "Kriss & Erin Kliegle" <kliegle at rcn.com> Subject: [aprssig] Bad Press in Wall Street Journal Sep. 6th 2005... To: <aprssig at lists.tapr.org> Here's what our former club president wrote, I couldn't have said better myself... Open Quotes.... Many snips here'n there...not all marked... Mr. Zander, As a professional firefighter, fire captain, master electrician, amateur, I am appalled at the comments by Motorola employee Jim Screeden ... The amateur radio system that he refers to as "better than nothing. but pretty close to nothing" has continued to function and in many situations is now the only choice. Nicely said, but In general it was a poorly constructed article. It says: "ham radio -- whose technology has changed little since World War II ..." then says: "myriad ways, including Morse code, microwave frequencies and even email" I took particular notice of the WW II technology comment. I also emailed Jim. (internally)...
