I just reduced the 60 mA of my GPS-18 to 40 mA by clipping out the LED in the cigarette lighter plug. Thats a power saving of 33% and is significant in our ocean going APRS buoy we will be deploying soon. I was amazed. (now I hope that the LED is not somehow otherwise involved in the circuit. We'll see.
