Ok, that made me go and get my shop manual and actually look... There are actually _two_ GPS units in my car. The on for OnStar is part of the cell antenna on the roof. The one for the nav system is inside the nav control box and its antenna is under the rear window deck. Who knew? So, you're right, everything said about the Onstar system does not apply. You're looking for a hack to open the nav box and get to the GPS signals inside. -----Original Message----- From: aprssig-bounces at lists.tapr.org [mailto:aprssig-bounces at lists.tapr.org] On Behalf Of Ron McCoy Sent: Wednesday, August 23, 2006 12:46 PM To: 'TAPR APRS Mailing List' Subject: RE: [aprssig] Tap into in-dash GPS Navigation for APRS? I replied because I assumed (and you know what that means) my Alpine in-dash nav system uses the OnStar GPS for its location info. Maybe it's the other way around. -----Original Message---- From: aprssig-bounces at lists.tapr.org [mailto:aprssig-bounces at lists.tapr.org] On Behalf Of A.J. I appreciate all of the responses, but I am referring to an in-dash navigation system, not OnStar. I am hoping to not only get a GPS fix into the D-700, but also plot waypoints on the map like you can do with a standalone Garmin GPS unit that has a moving map. I'm going to try to dig up some schematics from Alpine and see where that takes me. -- A.J.
