The Kenwood TNC doesn't work because it has a slow cpu and no buffer. Give it more then one packet of 80 or so bytes at a time and it has a serious case of data indigestion. Check on the bottom of this page for more on the Kenwoods. http://www.elcom.gr/sv2agw/hardware.htm Kenwood is announcing a new radio at DCC (you're all going - right? http://tapr.org/dcc.html ) and rumor has it that they know of the D700's shortcomings and are working to fix that. Maybe that's what's being announced. It's about time we get a real 9600 (or better) plug and play data radio. It would sure break open the amateur radio datacomm world. 73 Bill - WA7NWP
