When we say the software should limit the abuse that the software can produce if used wrongly does not mean that users should not be allowed not to do certain things, it means that an ever increasing degree of warnings should be given when users select those options. I agree that some software should be able to do certain things, but if it is done right, then the user is made accutely aware of what he is doing and how it may be damaging to other people. In APRSdos, the highest level of warning to an abusive setting was a screen disabling prompt every time each packet went out. Yes, he was allowed to do it, yes, there are times when we need to do certain things, but software should give the user feedbck. That is I think what we mean when we say that APRS software should hve "limits" on what users do... Blaming abuse by users on opentracker is like blaming Mirc for alowing users to write war scripts for irc. It´s the same discusion as that of igate operators gating half the world to RF, you can´t blame that on the software too. 73 de Andre PE1RDW _______________________________________________ aprssig mailing list aprssig at lists.tapr.org https://lists.tapr.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/aprssig
