Very true.  Also check http://www.findchips.com if you know the
manufacturer's part number.  It'll run inventory searches on several
different sites simultaneously.

Digi-Key's got the best parametric search, if you're looking for a part and
don't know exactly which one you want.  It's often hard to find the DB9
connector you want out of the hundreds of offerings, though.  Jameco has a
lot smaller selection, but it's easier to browse by picture.
