"APRS Viewpoint" uses a standard government data set of locations. If you click the "Locs" button Viewpoint for your callsign, you get a larger list of "Locales". This is what you get:

1.5 56.8 NE Parkview ppl Hall 405410N 0982050W Grand Island 1850 BGN 1977
2.1 74.8 NE Kingwood Estates ppl Hall 405355N 0982000W Grand Island 1845
2.8 33.3 NE Grand Island ppl Hall 405530N 0982030W Grand Island 1856 41147 BGN 1977
3.2 265.9 NE West Park Plaza Mobile Home Park ppl Hall 405315N 0982555W Abbott 1899
4.3 18.6 NE Pioneer Estates ppl Hall 405700N 0982042W Grand Island 1857
4.5 61.4 NE Kuesters Lake ppl Hall 405520N 0981742W Grand Island 1825

So yes, you are 2.8 miles from Grand Island in Viewpoint also. The data set just happens to contain larger number of geographical names.

The data sets are here:
