In that case try an NMO mount with a quarter wave antenna. You can bend it back to whatever angle you want. If the belly is not aluminum you will need a metal backing plate for both the ground plane and mechanical strength. If the airplane is fiberglass don't bother with any of this. Make a 2 meter dipole and just fasten it inside the airplane somewhere. 73 Joe Andrew Rich wrote: > experimental class > > ----------------------------------------- > Andrew Rich > Amateur radio callsign VK4TEC > email: vk4tec at tech-software.net <mailto:vk4tec at tech-software.net> > web: http://www.tech-software.net > Brisbane AUSTRALIA > > > > -----Original Message----- > From: Joe Della Barba [mailto:joe at dellabarba.com] > Sent: Friday, 10 November 2006 11:35 PM > To: vk4tec at tech-software.net; TAPR APRS Mailing List > Subject: Re: [aprssig] RE: VH-SJS Aeronautical mobile > > > Unless the airplane is experimental you will have issues with legally > making your own antenna.
