I wouldn't announce that demise just yet.  The problem is unidentified 
packages.  Alerting law enforcement to the  location(s), and identifying 
marks, *should* avoid unnecessary security measures.  That or get good 
about hiding in plain sight, not using visual or audible status indicators.
