IMO, smart beaconing isn't a deal-breaker.  I'm glad they fixed the  
"data port follows PTT" mistake, in case I don't want to use the  
built-in TNC.

The real question: is the firmware field upgradable by the user?

I'm sure I already know the answer to this, but will they release  
enough information so that we can develop new firmware for it?
