Come early next year it will be (just about) a complete waste of time.

They could lock the receiver and still give us access for field 
programming and dev.  I just think the whole concept that we'd be 
buying into yet another device that can't be everything we want (or 
close to it) is a bit of a bummer.

I'll probably own one someday, but this limits my interest in running 
out and buying one to replace my D700. :)
