Many find the spare time they have in their off hours a good time for self improvement. Whether it be working out at the gym, studying college courses, learning a new language, or studying for an amateur radio license, it helps to kill time. They have the time to do these things that they may never find time for at home. The last time I deployed I finished up the Career Development Course for my military specialty and earned nine college credits by studying the material for two courses and taking College Level Examination Program exams at the education office. If they want to spend their time studying and have an amateur license in their pocket when they return home, I say good on 'em. -Mac, KB8YHV
