It is alive! Woo-hoo! Who needs APRS anyway? :D ---------- Forwarded message ---------- From: Pierre Thomson <pierrethomson at mailstack.com> Date: Mar 15, 2007 1:57 PM Subject: [Ham-BONE] Zero-pressure balloon with 10m beacon in the air NOW! To: ham-bone at yahoogroups.com Hi gang, I just got word that a balloon-borne beacon I built is flying east from northern Michigan. It was launched by Robert Rochte of the Grosse Pointe Academy about five hours ago. It's now somewhere near the NY / Canada border in the vicinity of Ottawa. I can hear it pounding away, and I'm recording the telemetry for later analysis. If any of you have an HF receiver, I would greatly appreciate any reception reports, with text if possible. Cassette or digital recordings would also be wonderful. The beacon is sending CW on 28.636 MHz +/- 1 KHz at 50 mW with a vertical dipole antenna. The telemetry string contains ID, altimeter and temperature data, and battery voltage, plus my email address. Transmissions are every 2 minutes with occasional "dit"s in the gaps. QSL's will be sent, of course! 73 Pierre Thomson KA2QPG HamBONE balloon group -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
