If the OLPC laptops have Wi-fi, then perhaps a database of locations of wireless access points could be logged. Instead of using GPS, the OLPCs would triangulate their position based on the known locations of the wireless access points. This would be really helpful when used indoors where GPS coverage is lacking. A student could locate a teacher or another student that is using an OLPC in a large school building.
