In support of Youth, the APRS network is supposed to pass all messages to SCOUTS to RF, so that scout outings and demonstrations can easily find each other by sending a message to SCOUTS as a way of finding other groups. We hope all Igates that want to support scouting will add the callsign SCOUTS to his "pass-to-RF list" in their area. Scouting groups should also add SCOUTS to their message-group list, so that their stations will receive any such messages. This is completely dependent on the local APRS I-gate operator having added the callsign SCOUTS to his "pass-to-RF list" in his area. Many have not done this, so there are no guarantees. The fall Jamboree on the Air (JOTA) is approaching. Scouts all across America will be attending HAM radio demos. This is a good opportunity to show them that APRS is a two-way communications system, aimed to facilitate ham to ham communications, not just tracking objects... Bob, WB4APR
