A rainy day killed my scheduled outdoor activities (aw gee, I don't get to mow the lawn), so... CQSRVR is up and running. It is very simple to use. It supports 2, count them, 2 commands: CQ groupname messagetext U groupname 'CQ', 'U', and 'groupname' are not case sensitive (can be upper, lower, or mixed case). For instance, since JOTA is going this weekend I will use it as an example: Station AB3CD-8 at a JOTA location sends the following numbered APRS message (RF or Internet): TO: CQSRVR MSG:CQ JOTA CQ from troop 995 Annapolis MD USA This will cause AB3CD-8 to join the JOTA group and an -unnumbered- message containing "CQ from troop 995 Annapolis MD USA" will be sent to all other JOTA group members. The unnumbered message will appear to be from AB3CD-8 and gated to APRS-IS by CQSRVR. CQSRVR will acknowledge the message from AB3CD-8 and tell them that their message has been sent. They can continue this every 31 minutes (30 minute timer) for as long as they want. They will be purged from the JOTA group after 24 hours of inactivity or after they send the following message: TO: CQSRVR MSG:U JOTA That's it. Let's see how this works. The server is at a collocation site so should be stable through Tuesday evening CDT when I have a scheduled reboot of that server. 73, Pete Loveall AE5PL pete at ae5pl dot net
