Richard, to be fair about this, you must count your chariot to
transport the generator and extra gas cans into the cost, unless
your plan was to haul by foot from home ; -)

The real question is of convience, not having to refill the 
generator in the middle of the night.   Given the size of the
Prius gas tank, efficiency, and expected load you plan to run, Bob, 
how many hours can one operate, and still have enough left to drive 
to the gas station for a refill?  The answer would be in terms of 
KWH/Days.
