Ray,

We have a chain of stores here called Batteries Plus.  They have the tools
to spot weld leads on one of those batteries.  Perhaps you have something
similar, and can talk them into doing one?  

A better suggestion is to get a battery holder which allows you to both
replace the battery, and attach your own wires.  So far as I know they are
not RS parts, but cost all of 25¢ each.  I ordered 4 the last time I bought
something at All Electronics.
