I think in this case good elmering can be as simple as making sure your email address is updated on the various callsign lookup databases and perhaps having an email address occasionally beacon with your APRS position. Being involved with your local radio club can also be helpful. This way when a newbee sets up there APRS station and doesn't get digied they can easily contact other APRS users that can then assist the new operator with settings etc. I agree that keeping the old digi aliases operational on a digi was a weak argument to begin with but certainly now there's no reason to supporting the old aliases. Another idea to try is when seasoned APRSers see a new call pop up on there map they could get in contact with that person just to say "high" and strike up a conversation about APRS in general. That way if the newbee isn't sure of something they're likely to look for advice and will probably ask then. Just some ideas... Richard
