While RELAY was accepted years ago while APRS was in its infancy, it became harmful after 144.390 started getting busier. It would be far better to educate the operator and get them to change over to WIDE1-1 than just having them shot down. Ummm... I meant shut down! (I was just kidding yesterday when I suggested that Bob might have been on an S&D mission with the temporary use of RELAY!) > So when you've located a station responding to RELAY, the next > step would be to see if they also respond to WIDE1-1... While it is possible that a digi could be set up to respond to both RELAY and WIDE1-1, I would be quite surprised if it was set that way. Still, it doesn't hurt to try. I would suspect that if a digi operator was so far out of the loop that they were still using RELAY, they wouldn't have even heard of WIDE1-1. If that had, then it becomes a bit less excusable. Still, all you can do is suggest that they update their settiings. Done diplomatically, I would hope for cooperation. 73 es cul - Keith VE7GDH -- "I may be lost, but I know exactly where I am!"
