You're not watching what's happening in the NWAPRS...   Here's a
posting I made 12 days ago:

We've worked hard at it and today it's here.  All the 1200 baud
stations can finally be turned off!  The NWAPRS network digi's are
fully setup with smart routing and will be supporting 9600 only.  Once
again NWAPRS leads the world in on the air APRS technology...

Now that we've made that step we can start work at moving to our $9.95
- 900 MHz FHSS data radios for the next generation.
