I have a nice little GPS block (http://www.sparkfun.com/commerce/product_info.php?products_id=465) that I want to mount on top of the D7, and tie into the D7's AA-based battery pack. The GPS will need a TTL->RS-232 level shift, and some way to mount it. > > Just after I hit send on the last message, I realized that I should have mentioned this as well. 3) The tidiest way to deal with GPS on a TH-D7 is to use the Garmin Foretrex 201 wrist-wearable GPS. It works perfectly when connected to the D7 with a 2.5mm-to-2.5mm stereo mini-plug cable. The Foretrex contains it's own rechargeable lithium-ion battery and a quite legible display. If you set the D7 to send RECEIVED posits as NMEA waypoints TO the GPS, it will plot them on a rudimentary map labled with callsigns. [The ForeTrex appears to have the same basic capabilities, firmware and display as the basic yellow Etrex but in a much more versatile package. A full review of the Garmin ForeTrexFull with screen shots of it's display are here on my website: http://wa8lmf.net/Foretrex -- Stephen H.
