For the Newsline objects, the few sysops I know that are doing the weekly Newsline nets are not APRS operators, but they can easily hook up any old TNC to their radio.

Then they use Hyperterm or any text editor to put this in the TNC beacon:

BTEXT ;NEWS-Tu9*111111zDDMM.mmN/DDDMM.mmWrFFF.FFFMHz Tnnn Rxxm

UNPROTO APNEWS VIA WIDE1-1

BEACON every 30 minutes.

Then turn it on 24/7/365.  Done

That is far safer than trying to get someone to learn all the configuration issues of APRS and possibly to it all wrong.

Just one approach of course.
