[aprssig] WinAPRS not saving validation number

A friend is attempting to install WinAPRS 2.8.5.  He cannot get the
validation code that was recently secured by e-mail to be saved.  He
is using the validation code with the plus signs for the 2.8.5
version.

Each time the program is restarted he has to re-enter the number.

Anyone know why and how to fix the problem?
