One amendment--

There is a web page where someone seems to have done quite a bit of 
research into the various policies among the airlines.

Of course, you probably shouldn't consider this page the final authority 
for your in-flight use of GPS, but it's a good place to start. Now if 
only they would loosen up their rules to allow transmitting on 144.39 :)
