?? Why try to supply full capability power (50+ W) to the radio during cranking? Everyone is thinking another 40-60 AH battery. It'll only be receiving. 2 diodes and a 2 AH battery will do it whether it is a full 0 volt dropout or a 9 volt cranking brown-out. Then another diode and resistor for charging. It'll probably even do an APRS beacon.
